Dr. Mike Sagman was awarded Fellowship status in the American College of Dentists at its annual meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana, on October 18, 2002.

The American College of Dentists (ACD) was founded on August 20, 1920. The Academy itself represents the oldest major honorary organization for dentists. Its members exemplify excellence through outstanding leadership and exceptional contributions to the profession of dentistry and community.

Dr. Mike Sagman has been recognized by the Virginia Chapter leaders of the Academy because of his leadership and dedication to the dental profession.

The American College of Dentists is both apolitical and nonprofit. The organization has long been regarded as the "conscience of dentistry."

The College was the first organization to promote "continuing education," organizing and incorporating the American Association of Dental Editors, and essentially saving the Journal of Dental Research during the Depression.

The American College of Dentists is today involved in a wide range of activities, both nationally and locally, to accomplish its mission.

These activities include online courses in dental ethics, the Professional Ethics Initiative, an entry level ethics course, leadership symposia, online leadership courses, resource materials for dental schools, and a wide variety of award programs.

Dr. Mike Sagman retired from his active restorative and cosmetic dentistry practice in June of 2014. Dr. Sagman is now the founder and managing editor of The Dog Food Advisor website.
